Oracle Linux 6.1 Installation

1.Boot server from DVD ROM. Choose “Install or upgrade an existing system” and press  [ENTER] key

2.For testing the CD media screen we will skip. Press [TAB] key to pass SKIP button and [ENTER] key to continue.

3. On the “Welcome” screen click [NEXT].

4. Choose “English” for installation language.

5. Choose keyboard language.

6. Select the storage option necessary for the installation. Choose “Basic Storage Devices” option.

7.  Click “Yes, discard any data” to continue.

8. Enter host name  and then click the “Configure Network” button for networking settings.

9. Select the relevant connection and click the “Edit”.

10. Check the “Connect automatically” checkbox. Click on the “IPv4 Settings” tab, change the method to “Manual”, click the “Add” button and enter IP address,netmask and gateway address . Click “Apply” and “Close” button to save changes.

11. Select the time zone by clicking on your city on the map by signing yellow point.

12. Enter a root password and confirm it. The password must be strong.

13. If the password is weak then you will warn.

14. Check the partitioning type you want to do. Check the “Review and modify partitioning layout” checkbox and click “Next”


15. The installer will show the default partitioning scheme. If you want you can edit, create or delete.

16. Click “Format” button to format disk.

17. Click “Write changes to disk” button.

18. Do not change boot loader settings. Click “Next” to continue.

19. Choose the “Basic Server” installation and sign the “Customize now” option.

20. Base System -> Compatibility Libraries

Desktops -> Desktop

Desktops -> Desktop Platform

Desktops -> Fonts

Desktops ->General Purpose Desktop

Choose packages above and click “Next”

21. Our installation will start.

22. After installation reboot the OS.

23. After reboot, on the “Welcome” screen, click the “Forward”.

24. Accept the license agreement.

25. Click the “Forward”

26. Click the “Forward”. We will create user later.

27. Set the date and time settings

28. Click “Finish” button to complete configuration.

It is finished. You can login with root user.
